24th Annual HR Law

& Solutions seminar April 4

The Employment Law Practice Group at Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A. will host the firm’s 24th Annual HR Law & Solutions seminar Monday, April 4, at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa. This annual seminar is designed to update and educate business owners, managers and human resource professionals on legal issues in the workplace.

Florida Small Business Development Center

to host training programs, workshop and events

The Florida Small Business Develop-ment Center at Florida Gulf Coast Univer-sity will host training programs, workshops and events February and March.

Tune in online, Tuesday, March 1, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., for “The Ask Webinar Series: How Do I Access Capital for My Business?” This free webinar is hosted by Fifth Third Bank and will explore how to access capital for your business. Other webinars are hosted the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30-11 a.m. through 2016.

Join the SBDC at its free monthly, regional networking meetings that include in-depth discussions on business concerns and B2B networking. Networking meetings run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and lunch is included.

In addition to regular programming, the FSBDC is currently accepting nominations for Distinguished Entrepreneur of SW Florida. The application deadline is March 31 with the awards dinner to be hosted on May 18 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers.

WIB group to hold network meeting

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Committee will host its March networking meeting from 46 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, at IBERIABANK, at 9101 College Pointe Court, Fort Myers. This month’s WIB event will focus on women’s health while providing open networking for local professionals. Dr. Stanfill from Radiology Regional will speak to attendees on breast health and cancer awareness, while the mobile mammogram bus will be on site from 12-5 p.m. for mammogram check-ups as well. Passenger count

climbs again at RSW

During January, 918,929 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 7.5 percent compared to January 2015. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 7.5 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in January was Southwest with 185,439 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (170,564), American (127,384), Spirit (102,871) and JetBlue (102,085).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 8,909 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), an increase of 5.6 percent compared to January 2015. Page Field saw 9,031 movements, a 2.6 percent increase from January 2015. In addition, more than 2.5 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in January 2016, a decrease of 6.8 percent compared to January 2015.
