House of Omelets opens southwest Cape location

3 min read

Louie Vushaj doesn’t lack in confidence. He challenges anyone in Cape Coral to make a better breakfast than he does and believes that any challenge is doomed to failure.

Which makes it natural that he and his wife, Gina, would open a restaurant that specializes in the best breakfasts and lunches in the city.

The House of Omelets has done such a great job at its location on 900 Pine Island Road that Vushaj opened a second location in the southwest Cape at 4703 S.W. 16th Place last year, with the same excellent results, adding a sports bar, Ocean Breezz, next to it for some nighttime and late-night fare.

Louie and Gina moved here from Michigan, where they also owned a group of restaurants, five years ago. They don’t regret the decision.

“I couldn’t have made a better move in my life. It’s a great city. The weather is paradise and the people are great,” Vushaj said.

It also turned out to be the perfect place to start a business, as he opened his first House of Omelets three years ago. Through hard work, word of mouth and great food and service, the place quickly became a huge success.

“I work 15- to 16-hour days. Today is my slacking day where I only work 14,” Vushaj laughed. “It’s the nature of the business and I have no complaints. I am the ‘king of breakfast.’ I am the best.”

If Vushaj is the king, his treasures are his omelets, of which he makes more than 50 varieties. There are the traditional meat-lovers and spinach omelets, but there are also specialty omelets nobody might have thought of.

There is the Tropical Omelet with ham, pineapple, onions mixed peppers and Swiss cheese, and the Mare Monte, with shrimp, crab meat, spinach, mushrooms and Swiss, with prices at the $7 to $9 level on most items.

“One thing about the omelets, you aren’t leaving hungry. Our biggest complaint is that we put too much food on the plate,” Vushaj said. “It’s a good complaint to live with.”

You can also have eggs, pancakes, French toast, breakfast burritos, skillets, biscuits and gravy and more.

For lunch, they offer great salads, soup, wraps, melts, sandwiches (especially the Reubens) on ciabatta bread and burgers, which Vushaj says are the best in town. Again, the price range is between $7 and $9.

Both House of Omelets locations are open every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
