Cottage Portfolio to open office in Cape Coral
California-based LMCC Enterprises Inc., doing business as Cottage Portfolio, will be opening a new office in Southwest Florida.
“Last year we celebrated our 10th year successfully growing our unique natural household product lines from Southern California. With a new office in Cape Coral, we now look forward to supporting our wholesale customers on both coasts. We have, in fact ,already called on Florida businesses for almost 9 months now and getting a feel for the local economy,” said Mary Johnston, company founder and president.
General Bug, the company’s line of All Natural Insect Repellents, are carried in local marinas such as Tarpon Point, Cape Harbor and Sanibel Marina; Gavin’s ACE hardware stores in the Cape and Fort Myers; and independent grocers like Jerry’s and Bailey’s on Sanibel.
“We have lots of really fun wholesale customers like Gulf Coast Kayak (rentals) on Matlacha, tons of bait shops and tour operators and natural products stores, my favorite being Back To Nature on (Southeast) 47th Terrace, close to the well-run Cape Coral Farmers Market that we also attend on Saturdays in season. Farmers markets are, in fact, a fun and indispensable way to look customers in the eye for instant feedback on new product launches,” Johnston said.
Cottage Portfolio houses natural hand-made soaps, lotions, candles, diffusers, fragrances, balms, bath salts, cleaners and even a line of kitchen items under the Cattle Cuisine brand.
“In 2016 we plan to expand the fast-selling General Bu brand from a focus on no-see-ums, mosquitos, biting gnats, black flies and sugar ants to include more natural pest control formulations targeting fire ants, ticks, fleas and roaches. The natural weed-control business is also on our product roadmap,” Johnson said.
Beyond wholesale, LMCC also provides private label and contract manufacturing services. The company has been making small-batch private label lotions for natural spas all over the country for many years and exports house brands to distributors globally.
“We have been doing business in Japan and Korea for 8 years now. And, we’ve even done some contract manufacturing work for local distillery Wicked Dolphin, making candles for their gift shop,” Johnston said.
“We are now looking at commercial space in Cape Coral and starting to move some of our high-volume manufacturing equipment from California to Florida. Cape Coral is simply an unrivaled location to base a business hub for a company like ours and with RSW at our doorstep we can easily be in New York and other large Atlantic metros in less than 3 hours,” Johnston said.
