Local dentist donates over

15,000 toothbrushes in 2015

Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers, Dr. Tim Verwest, DMD gave away over 15,000 free toothbrushes during dental presentations in 2015. Children in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties were the primary recipients of the toothbrushes.

Over the last two years Dr. Verwest has given away over 35,000 toothbrushes.

Pediatric Dentistry of Fort Myers provides free dental health and oral hygiene presentations to preschools, elementary, and private schools throughout Southwest Florida. Children learn the importance of healthy eating habits, dental facts, and the proper instruction on brushing their teeth, free of charge.

This educational presentation equips the children with the necessary tools and guidance to confidently understand the importance of dental health.

Six Bends to host Food

and Brew Fest Jan. 23

Six Bends is hosting a Food and Brew Fest, featuring live entertainment and food truck fare at Top Rocker Field, Saturday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Food & Brew Fest will feature craft beer and food trucks from Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Bistro on the Go and Fire and Rice. The event will also include live performances from local artists Electric Lipstick and the 24 Carat Band. General admission is $15 per person and includes five tickets that can be redeemed for food and/or beverage purchases. Additionally, all proceeds raised will benefit the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund.

to host community fundraiser

Bob Evans will be hosting a “dine to make a difference” community fundraiser to benefit St. Vincent de Paul Society – Helping Disadvantaged Neighbors Help Themselves Thursday, Jan. 28, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

On Jan. 28, Bob Evans will be donating 15 percent of its sales, when customers provided the related flyer.

‘Born Dealers’ marathon Monday

This Monday, Jan. 18, Martin Luther King Day, the Destination America television network will hold a six-hour “Born Dealers” marathon featuring Pasternak Antiques & 20th Century Design. The company is owned by part-time Cape Coral resident Jeremiah Pasternak and his father, Jerry.

The “Born Dealers” show was created several years ago as a reality series for the Planet Green network and the Discovery Channel in Canada. According to Pasternak, six episodes aired and then the network was sold and the series ended, and Monday Destination America will run the episodes back-to-back starting at 6 a.m.

According to Pasternak, several Cape Coral and Southwest Florida landmarks and antique dealers will be featured in the programs.

SBRN to host economic outlook

discussion, networking Thursday

The Southwest Florida Small Business Resource Network, sponsored by Florida Gulf Coast Univer-sity Small Business Development Center, will host a networking and discussion event about the 2016 economic outlook for small business owners, Thursday, Jan 21, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Connors Steak and Seafood Gulf Coast Town Center, 10076 Gulf Center Drive, in Fort Myers.

The featured speaker is Warren Baucom, business assistance specialist with the Lee County Economic Development Office.

The meeting is sponsored by Grasmeier Busi-ness Consulting, which provides tax, accounting and consulting services to small businesses and their owners.

The event begins with networking over lunch, followed by the topic discussion. Lunch is included in the cost which is $20 per person for members. Guests and unaffiliated small business owners pay $30 per person.
