Lee County Visitor & Convention
staff earns volunteer credentials
The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau has announced that Judi Durant, director of visitor services, and Simone Behr, visitor services coordinator, received recertification from the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration.
In the VCB’s Visitor Services department, Durant and Behr help coordinate the recruitment, training and supervision of more than 100 volunteers who work the visitor information booths at the Southwest Florida International Airport.
The CVA offers an international professional certification in the field of volunteer resources management. Sponsored by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration, this credential recognizes practitioners who meet specified standards. Intended for those with a foundation in volunteer administration, it is a self-study program that measures an individual’s “knowledge-in-use” – the application of knowledge and skills as documented by a current competency framework. The certification exam assesses a candidate’s ability to structure tasks, process ideas, and solve problems related to volunteer engagement.
The CVA network has more than 3,500 members and includes leaders of volunteers in every conceivable type of organization and setting. Despite this diversity, all share a common passion for volunteer engagement and a belief in the positive power of people.
Hersch to speak at meeting
Attorney Craig R. Hersch, partner at Sheppard, Brett, Stewart, Hersch, Kinsey & Hill, P.A., will speak at the annual joint meeting for Estate Planning Council of Lee County and Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of Lee County Inc., which will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Cypress Lake Country Club, 6767 Winkler Road, in Fort Myers.
In a lecture geared toward estate planning professionals and those involved in charitable giving, Hersch’s presentation, entitled “The Four Freedoms,” will illuminate on the four freedoms that everyone seeks: time, money, relationship and purpose.
Hersch is a Florida Bar Board certified wills, trusts and estates attorney and holds his Florida CPA license. He is a partner at Sheppard, Brett, Stewart, Hersch, Kinsey & Hill, P.A. and has created several trademarked processes tied to his estate planning and administration practice, including The Family Estate & Legacy Program and The Estate Settlement Program. He is the author of two books, “Common Cents Estate Planning” and “Legal Matters When a Loved One Dies,” and is working on two additional books that are anticipated for publication in 2016.
Members of the Estate Planning Council of Lee County or Partnership for Philanthropic Planning will receive pre-paid reservation options, and guests will have the opportunity to pay at the door with a $30 registration fee. ‘Think Outside the Box’ Award
Grossman Law & Conflict Management has announced that its founder and managing partner, attorney and mediator Keith Grossman, has been awarded the Association of Family Law Professionals annual Hugh E. Starnes “Think Outside the Box” Award.
The award is given to a member of AFLP in recognition of his or her leadership, critical thinking, innovation and dedication to non-adversarial practice.
AFLP is a multi-disciplinary organization made up of attorneys, judges, therapists, accountants and financial planners. It promotes cooperation in matters of family law, including dissolution of marriage, in order to achieve cost-effective resolutions and to maintain emotional stability and necessary family relationships. The association develops and promotes a model (including guidelines) for cooperation in the process of divorce and other family law issues.

Pure Florida presents
Bark on the Ark Jan. 23
Pure Florida’s Fort Myers location is presenting Bark on the Ark on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 8 to 11 a.m. Guests will have the opportunity to bring their dogs aboard the M/V Edison Explorer for a sightseeing river cruise to Picnic Island, an island located between Sanibel and Pine Island.
Passengers can enjoy a peaceful cruise along the Caloosahatchee River followed by a playful time on the island, socializing with man’s best friend. During the excursion, dogs and owners can run, swim and play catch while enjoying the sunshine, water, sand and fresh air.
Water, Frisbees and dog treats are included for the canines. Human treats, such as soda, wine and beer will also be available for purchase.
The M/V Edison Ex-plorer departs from The Marina at Edison Ford, 2360 W. First St. in Fort Myers.
Registration for the tour is $44 per human. Reser-vations are required as room is limited to 25 passengers and their pets. All dogs that can follow basic commands are welcome.
