Chiropractor joins Dr. Mel’s staff
Dr. Mel Youngs, D.C., P.A., has announced one of the additions of Dr. Douglas Sterban, chiropractic physician, to her healthcare team. Dr. Sterban is from Tennessee where he had a successful chiropractic practice in Nashville before recently relocating to Florida. He is proficient in spinal health and specializes in sports injuries.

Juniper Village at Cape Coral will hold a professional networking event in the courtyard for its official food drive kick-off event today, Nov. 6, from 5-7 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food item to be entered in the prize drawing. The month-long food drive initiative is in support of the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
On Tuesday, Nov 24, from 6-7 p.m., Juniper Village will feature its “Candy Bar” Extravaganza, featuring a “Candy Bar” and, just like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, a flowing choco-late fountain (not a river, but close enough) with strawberries, marshmellows and bananas for dipping and other tasty treats.

participating in three-day fundraisers for food banks
For the first time ever, all T.J.Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods stores will hold a three-day in-store fundraising campaign from Nov. 6-8 to support Feeding South Florida, Treasure Coast Food Bank, America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend, Feeding America Tampa Bay, Feeding Northeast Florida, Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and Palm Beach County Food Bank to help stop hunger in and around the local community. Those organizations will receive 100 percent of the funds raised during this initiative.
Participating are the TJ Maxx stores in Cape Coral at 1502 Del Prado Blvd., S., and Fort Myers at 7191-2 Cypress Lake Drive.
Local Marshalls involved in the drive are at 4995 S. Cleveland Ave., and 10017 Gulf Center Drive, both in Fort Myers.

Two veterinarians join

‘Military Appreciation Month’ at Six Bends
In honor of Southwest Florida veterans and their families, Six Bends has dubbed November “Military Appreciation Month.” In addition to month-long activities, Six Bends will be hosting a veteran’s appreciation event Saturday, Nov. 21.
The event will start with a free hot breakfast provided by LeeSar in partnership with Lee Memorial Hospital, from 9-11 a.m,. for up to 250 veterans. Following the breakfast, guests will enjoy a flag raising ceremony and honor guard at 11:30 a.m.
To kick off the afternoon celebrations, all retired or active military vets are invited to participate in the freedom photo at 12 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear their uniform, colors and patches. After the freedom photo, from 1-4 p.m., guests will enjoy live music, additional commemorative photos etc., vendors and refreshments. All freedom photo participants will receive a complimentary copy of the photo.
The public is welcome to join in on the fun and while the event is free, donations will be accepted and all proceeds will go to benefit the American Fallen Soldiers Project. The American Fallen Soldier project is a non-profit organization that makes available at no cost to the family an original portrait of their fallen loved one that captures their appearance and personality.
