The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Institute for Organization Management professional development program has awarded a Regent Scholarship to Donna Germain, interim vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral. The scholarship recognizes her involvement in industry professional organizations, community service and professional background.

This is the second consecutive year that Germain was awarded a scholarship. She will once again attend the Northeast Chamber Institute located at Villanova University in Villanova, Pa., this summer. Through a combination of required courses and electives, participants are able to enhance organizational management skills and add new energy and leadership tactics to their organizations to infuse more efficient and effective methods and procedures.

Graduates of the four-year curriculum receive the Institute for Organization Management recognition, signifying completion of 96 hours of course instruction in nonprofit management and their commitment to the industry. In addition, participants can earn credit hours toward the Certified Chamber Executive or Certified Association Executive certifications. Nearly 1,000 individuals attend the Institute annually.

Germain began her career at the Chamber in 2004 as Membership Relations Manager. She was promoted to Communications Director in 2005 and Interim Vice President in 2015. She serves as staff liaison for Leadership Cape Coral and Advanced Leadership. Germain is also publisher and editor of the organization’s Chamber Trends magazine, and organizes chamber events including the Chairman’s Gala, Candidates’ Forum, Candidates Hobnob and Speed Politics.

Born and raised in Cape Coral, Germain volunteers for various community events and organizations.

The Institute of Organization Management is the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Since its commencement in 1921, the program has educated tens of thousands of association, chamber and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become stronger business advocates.
