Hersch publishes first book
‘Common Cents Estate Planning’
Attorney Craig R. Hersch has authored and published his first book entitled, “Common Cents Estate Planning.” The book is his first in an upcoming series that provides practical, easy-to-understand information to help readers navigate the complex and sometimes confusing estate planning process.
This behind-the-desk view is based on Hersch’s 25 years of experience helping clients address real life situations. Scanlon Acura hosts grand opening
Scanlon Auto Group recently held a grand opening for its new Acura dealership, located off of U.S. 41 at 14270 South Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers.
Scanlon’s Acura dealership represents the latest “Generation III” Model Acura facility and the first of its kind in the country.
Owen-Ames-Kimball Company served as the design/build team on the Acura project along with Ramon Acevedo, AIA of GMA Architects Planners as the project architect.
The new dealership encompasses 11,000 square feet aligning with the latest in Acura design elements. A two-bay enclosed and air conditioned new car delivery area has been added. CenturyLink employees pack meals
for United way Days of Caring
CenturyLink employees gave back to their community through two United Way Days of Caring, packing food for families in need. Meals of Hope provided the equipment for the project. The food was given to Harry Chapin Food Bank, a United Way Partner Agency, for distribution to hungry children, seniors and families in Southwest Florida.
A total of 54 CenturyLink employees packed over 17,500 meals over two days in Fort Myers and Port Charlotte. CenturyLink timed the events to coincide with the company’s United Way Campaign Kick Off.
The United Way’s Days of Caring is a year-round program that connects businesses with nonprofit agencies in need of assistance. Businesses have many choices as they select projects as needed by the agencies, including the type of project, location in our community, degree of physical labor, and time commitment.
The United Way Volunteer Center, the designated Volunteer Center for Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee creates connections between volunteer opportunities and individuals, families, businesses and groups to help them serve their community. Fayer receives 2014 pro bono award
from Florida Rural Legal Services
Attorney Kelly L. Fayer received the 2014 One Award from Florida Rural Legal Services for multiple and outstanding pro bono legal services in 2013. In her most challenging case, Fayer provided guardianship assistance that kept four children together in the loving home of a family member after the tragic loss of their mother.

CPA firm provides Thanksgiving meal
to PACE Center for Girls
Myers, Brettholtz & Company, PA, Certified Public Accountants & Business Consultants employees recently provided PACE Center for Girls staff, volunteers and students a home-cooked Thanksgiving lunch at their new school location off of Evans Avenue in Fort Myers.
The lunch included turkey, ham, stuffing, casseroles, mashed and sweet potatoes, gravy, salad and a variety of desserts.
PACE Center for Girls of Lee County offers year-round counseling and academic services for girls, ages 12 through 18, who are facing challenges such as foster care, domestic violence, abuse and neglect, death of a parent, substance abuse, and/or family history of incarceration. At the request of community leaders and elected officials, PACE Lee was established in 2007 and since opening its doors, has helped nearly 600 girls find success in school, generate a positive relationship with their families and peers, and become productive members of our community.

in 41 new employees
More than 265 job seekers participated in Alta Resources’ November job fair, and 41 of them accepted on-the-spot job offers with an additional 75 anticipating future offers of employment. The first two new employees were hired within 90 minutes. Both Corrine Hotchkiss of Lehigh Acres and Rosa Alarcon of Cape Coral were offered bilingual customer-service positions to handle calls on behalf of Alta Resources’ health-insurance clients.

Pushing the Envelope Inc.
holds CAN?IT! food drive
In an effort to help put hunger in its place in Southwest Florida, Pushing the Envelope Inc. recently held its 4th Annual CAN IT! food drive and successfully collected more than 1,000 non-perishable food items for Community Cooperative Ministries Inc. for this holiday season. The food items will help CCMI run their soup kitchen and Meals on Wheels program.
With the support of many community members and local businesses, Pushing the Envelope Inc. was able to reach its goal in just four weeks, collecting more than 946 pounds of non-perishable food items. As of today, the CAN IT! Campaign with community supporters, has donated almost 4,000 pounds of food to CCMI.
