Cape Harbour sales center drop-off point for Letter Carrier Food Drive
Cape Coral residents are invited to leave nonperishable food items at the Cape Harbour Sales Center, 5703 Cape Harbour Drive, for the 19th annual Letter Carrier Food Drive Saturday, May 14. The food will be included as part of the food drive.
Snowbirds are encouraged to leave their excess food items at the sales center prior to their departure. Letter carriers will be collecting donations left by mailboxes on May 14. Those who won’t be available for the food drive that day are also encouraged to participate by leaving their donations in the sales center.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of more than 170 local nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties, who provide food to more than 30,000 people monthly. Over 800,900 pounds of food are distributed monthly. For every dollar donated, about $6 in food value goes back to the community. In the past fiscal year, The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed more than 11.5 million pounds of food and other grocery products.
