Dalton Drake has joined J.L. Wallace Inc. as director of business development, according to Jerry Wallace, president of the construction company. In this role, he is responsible for developing new client relationships, the management of existing client relationships, research of developing projects, and networking to generate new leads.

Drake will represent the company through involvement in various organizations, such as, Christian Chamber of Southwest Florida, Real Estate Investment Society and Construction Sales Industry Professionals. He holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate and risk management from Florida State University.

34 single-family home

permits pulled

in January in county

During January, contractors pulled permits to build 34 single-family houses collectively valued at $9.1 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 20 permits issued in December and 13 in January 2009, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

Also in January, permits were issued for 16 multi-family units, compared to eight in December and four in January 2009.

No permits were issued for new commercial buildings. The record low monthly value of commercial permitting had been $129,000, which was recorded in June 2009. In December, the value of commercial permits was nearly $1.5 million. In January 2009, it was $1.2 million.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development, and building services, environmental review, building inspection and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.

Florida Eye Health’s Canizales appears

on Hispanic TV show

Florida Eye Health Optometrist Dr. Juan Canizales was recently a guest on “Viva Su Salud,” an Hispanic program whose mission is to educate the Hispanic community on various health topics. The program airs Saturday mornings on Telemundo-43. The show’s host, Dr. Mabel Lopez, talked with Dr. Canizales about cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, pterygiums and glaucoma which all affect the Hispanic community. Dr. Canizales joined the Florida Eye Health medical team, headed by Cataract & LASIK Specialist Dr. Jonathan Frantz, in March 2006 as an optometrist in the Naples office, 2100 Tamiami Trail North. Born in Madrid, Spain, Dr. Canizales lived in the United States all his life and moved to Southwest Florida from Miami. He received his doctor of optometry from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, and speaks fluent English and Spanish.

Company begins

remodel of Sam’s Club

in Port Charlotte

J.L. Wallace Inc. has started the remodel of Sam’s Club #6445 in Port Charlotte.

The project consists of the addition of a new front entry feature and doors, renovation of photo center, snack bar, rotisserie area, store offices, membership area and all refrigeration cases. Also included will be concrete floor replacement and repolishing of floors, bakery finishes replacement, remodeled tire center, pharmacy and vision center and employee breakroom. Additional renovations include parking lot and storm drain modifications, landscaping upgrades, interior and exterior painting, and signage. Architectural design services are being provided by Ronald D. Rees with engineering services provided by Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc.

Ted Gadoury is project manager with Dick Risner and Robert Pizarro as superintendents and Robbyn Spears as senior project manager assistant.

D’Alessandro joins Physicians Primary Care

Dr. Angela D’Alessandro has joined Physicians’ Primary Care of Southwest Florida. She practices pediatrics at the Cape Coral office at 1261 Viscaya Parkway, Suite 101, and the Fort Myers office at 9350 Camelot Drive. She is accepting new patients.

Dr. D’Alessan-dro received her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale and received post-doctoral training at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. She also earned a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Duke University Medical Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Prior to joining PPC, Dr. D’Alessandro was a pediatrician in private practice in North Carolina. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
