Palmetto-Pine Country Club fills two senior positions
Palmetto-Pine Country Club has announced the appointment of Jay Porter as the new General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of the Club, and Charles Nagle as the new dinning room manager. These appointments are effective as of September. After conducting a nationwide search, Palmetto-Pine Country Club believes it has chosen two excellent leaders who will guide the efforts to preserve and improve the club.
Jay Porter has more than 22 years of industry experience and he brings a wide range of golf course and country club knowledge to Palmetto-Pine. He led historic Merion Golf Club through facility improvements, staff reorganizations, and improved operating procedures and enhancements, allowing the return of the U.S. Open, the U.S. Amateur and the Walker Cup. At Merion, Jay developed a Web site for the U.S. Amateur which was later donated to the U.S.G.A.
As general manager of La Gorce Country Club, the premier private club in South Florida, Jay successfully completed a golf course renovation approved by Jack Nicklaus as well as upgrading the club’s IT software and hardware systems. In addition, he overcame significant security issues and implemented a comprehensive plan to insure the safety of members, guests, and staff while GM at Germantown Cricket Club
Jay is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University and completed Business Management Institute levels I, II & III. Jay is also a Certified Club Manager.
He has also served as President, Treasurer, and Board Member, Philadelphia Club Managers Association and was a Club Managers Association Wine Society Member.
Charlie Nagle has more than 11 years of industry experience and he brings a wide range of dining room, banquets, and activities knowledge to Palmetto-Pine. One of Charlie’s accomplishments is that he led operations in Lexington Country Club’s four dining rooms while planning all banquet events, special functions and golf events. Charlie coordinated all activities, ensured communications among all departments and ensured member satisfaction.
Charlie is a graduate of Santa Fe Community College and successfully completed several courses in hospitality and management training while at Lexington.
Our Club is confident that under Charlie’s leadership in the dining room, the Club will continue to provide excellent dining, banquets, entertainment, golf events catering and other functions with outstanding service to our members.
Palmetto-Pine Country Club believes that the extensive experience and understanding of the industry that both Jay and Charlie bring to the Club, make them excellent choices in their areas of expertise, to lead Palmetto-Pine Country Club as it continues to expand its commitment to preserve and improve the Club.
