Nortrax to hold grand opening in Fort Myers

3 min read

The economy may be in a slump, but Nortrax, North America’s largest John Deere construction and forestry equipment retailer, sees a prosperous future in store for Fort Myers. Nortrax is committed to this growing Gulf Coast community and is investing in its future by constructing a new state-of-the-art facility.

A Grand Opening for the Fort Myers business community and interested customers will be held 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, at 3005 Hanson Street, Fort Myers, showcasing the full-service dealership. The day’s activities will include a brief program and ribbon-cutting at 11a.m.; lunch service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and refreshments, music, prizes and hands-on equipment previews throughout the day. A grand prize drawing will be held at 6:00 p.m.

“We want Southwest Florida to know that Nortrax is here to stay,” said Dave Walsh, Nortrax general manager in a prepared statement. “We are committed to working with the area’s business community. While many dealers are struggling to stay afloat given the depressed market in Florida, Nortrax is investing in this key market. We believe in its long-term importance to Florida’s construction industry.”

The 22,630-square-feet Nortrax store is being built right next door to their current location.

“The biggest difference is in the service area,” said Walsh. “The new shop is 11,880 square feet, which is 22 percent larger than our old one. Our parts warehouse consists of a two-story rack system which effectively doubles its parts storage capacity.”

According to Walsh, the Fort Myers location currently has 23 full-time employees with a total of 496 years of industry-specific experience, for an average of 21.5 years of experience per employee.

“We have a lot of highly skilled, experienced employees who are truly committed to customer satisfaction,” he added, “and we plan to bring on more people as the economy improves.”

In addition to Walsh, other Nortrax and John Deere officials who will be present at the Grand Opening include Nortrax President and CEO Timothy J. Murphy, Nortrax Southeast Region Vice President Mike Festing-Smith, and leaders from the John Deere Construction & Forestry Division and John Deere Credit.

New John Deere products to be unveiled at the Grand Opening will include a 764 High Speed Dozer and K Series Loaders. Also, John Deere Certified Used machines will be on display and available for customers to examine, as well as Nortrax’s rental fleet.

“We encourage people to come in and give our equipment a look kick the tires!” Walsh said.
