Island Decor and More’s 3rd Annual Coloring Contest

Island Decor and More is calling all kids for its 3rd Annual Coloring Contest. The theme for the Matlacha retail store’s contest is “Your favorite island animal from land or sea.” Entries must be submitted by Sept. 3.

The contest is open to youngsters from 1 to 14 years of age, in categories 5 and under, 6-9 and 10-14. First place winners will receive a $10 shopping spree. Additional certificates will be awarded for special categories, including most creative, second and third place finishers and honorable mentions.

The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce will display the artwork during the month of October. Awards will be presented by Pirate Capt. John and his PI Pirate Girl Saturday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m.

Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to host 2009 Fall Job Fair

The Southwest Florida His-panic Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 2009 Fall Job Fair Friday, Sept. 25. The event will take place at Hodges University from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Rates for booths are $250 and $200 for non-profits. This includes table, table cloth, 2 chairs, time on stage to promote business and logo on power point presentation.

Lunch is included in the booth rental fee.

Lee Building Industry Association takes top honors

The Lee Building Industry Association has announced that it has been awarded Association Excellence Awards.

The National Association of Home Builders’ Excellence Awards program recognizes outstanding accomplishments of state and local Home Building Associations and executive officers in the field of association management.

The Lee BIA won awards in the following categories: Best HBA Partnership/Coalition for the CCC/AIA/CSI/REIS Net-working Social and for Best Source of Revenue Other Than Dues for the Bricks & Sticks Fishing Tournament Event.

Presentation of the NAHB’s Association Excellence Awards took place on Aug. 12 at the Executive Officers Council Seminar in Louisville, Ken.

Fort Myers Toyota collision center to open, add 20 jobs

Fort Myers Toyota has announced that its new collision center will open in September and will add up to 20 new jobs to the community. The Toyota-certified facility will be housed in a 25,000-square-foot building and is designed to set the standard for other collision centers in the Southeast United States on going green.

The entry of Fort Myers Toyota into the collision repair business will allow the company to provide complete and comprehensive service to its customers when it comes to their vehicles.

Managers Mark Kirman and Travis Goulet have a combined 35 years’ experience in the collision repair business and Toyota Motor Company. They are both Toyota-certified estimators and have completed the Toyota University training courses.

The local collision center will be the only Toyota-certified center from Bradenton to Miami and plans to become Lexus Certified are in the works for the next year.
