Art gallery grand opening Saturday

USA Bait & Tackle will hold a grand opening for its art gallery Saturday, Aug. 1, from 2 to 9 p.m. The event will feature demonstrations, a skin care seminar, local artists available for questions plus refreshments.

Designer Delight to bring European fashions to Bell Tower Shops

European fashions, never before seen in the U.S., will debut at Bell Tower Shops this fall with the opening of Designer Delight. Karin and Peter Weber plan to open their first U.S. store in October and will carry a mix of contemporary fashions, as well as coordinating accessories.

The clothing lines, unavailable anywhere else in the country, will range from fun, colorful and casual attire to sophisticated evening wear for both women and men. Merchandise will be priced from $30 to $300.

“Designer Delight will add a new dimension to our fashion mix,” said Becky Thompson, general manager of Bell Tower Shops. “The clothing lines are exciting and will provide shoppers with distinctive, out of the ordinary options.”

The 1,422-square-foot store will be located between TGI Friday’s and Cru on the south side of Bell Tower Shops.

Bell Tower Shops is an open-air lifestyle center, located at U.S. 41 and Daniels Parkway, with 40 retailers, including Saks Fifth Avenue and The Fresh Market, nine restaurants and Bell Tower 20 Regal Cinemas. Cape Dog Bakery, Cat House celebrate fifth anniversary

Lou and Anita Simmons, owners of the Cape Dog Bakery and Cat House, are celebrating the company’s fifth anniversary this month. The business opened on July 5, 2004, at 1207 Cape Coral Parkway East, in the Big John’s Shopping Center.

This past January, the city’s only legal cat house was added, continuing with the company’s vision of providing holistic and natural premium foods. Not just a bakery, the store continues to provide everything for dogs and now cats including collars, harnesses, toys, clothing and bakery treats.

Simmons feels the key to a happy and healthy pet is to feed a quality food. The store has been doing on-site kitten adoptions with approved applications for Lee County Animal Services. The Platinum Coast Cat Fanceriers’ Association is on hand once a month to promote its Breeders Assist and Rescue program.

Woodham and Shierling partners in dental practice

Gary Shierling DDS, PA, of Cape Coral announces that Bradley Woodham, DMD, PA, is now his partner in the practice – now Shierling & Woodham Family Dentistry, LLC..

The 19-year-old practice first welcomed Woodham in December 2008. Prior to joining Shierling’s practice, Woodham, also a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, served for three years at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C. In 2008 he spent seven months on tour in Iraq, as one of two dentists for the base at Fallujah.

Woodham, originally from northwest Florida, joined the Navy through a scholarship program at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where he received his doctoral degree in 2005. During his active duty at Camp Lejeune, he completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry training, a program accredited by the American Dental Association.

Fifth Third Bank, foundations plan ‘Back to School’ supply drives

Fifth Third Bank, in partnership with the Education Foundation of Collier County, The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, the Education Foundation of Sarasota County and the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, has announced a project to provide local schoolchildren with free school supplies and backpacks.

From Aug. 14 through Sept. 4, Fifth Third Bank will collect donations of school supplies in its Collier, Lee, Sarasota and Palm Beach county locations. The bank will provide individual backpacks for the supplies. Supplies and backpacks will be distributed in conjunction with the education foundations to students in need of assistance.

The public is encouraged to donate supplies at any Fifth Third Bank in the area. Suggested items include #2 pencils, spiral notebooks, 8- or 24-count boxes of crayons, washable glue or glue sticks, anti-bacterial wipes or hand sanitizer, gallon- or sandwich-size zip lock bags, etc. Donations of gift cards to office supply stores or retail school supply vendors are also welcomed; the partners will purchase supplies from the school-issued supply list and distribute during the drive.

According to Tim Mackay, the bank’s South Florida senior vice president and retail executive, the partners will kick off the school supply drive by hosting ice cream socials for bank customers and guests on Friday Aug. 14, 2-4 p.m., at Fifth Third locations in Collier, Lee, Sarasota and Palm Beach counties. Ruscik, Bower joins FineMark National Bank & Trust

Donna Jo (D.J.) Ruscik has joined FineMark National Bank & Trust as a trust associate. Ruscik, who has over 20 years experience serving clients in the investment and trust areas, most recently worked with Bob Sizemore at Merrill Lynch.

Ruscik will work directly with trust and investment clients and will also support senior relationship managers. She has earned her series 3, 7 and 63 securities licenses.
