LCEC public relations team wins Local Image Awards
LCEC proudly announced that the LCEC Public Relations Team was recognized with the top local professional award from the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association on Thursday.
The LCEC Public Relations Team program “Restoration on Deadline Media Workshop” stood out among 29 public relations entries from the Southwest Florida chapter, and received the local Grand All Image Award, in addition to an Image Award and Judges’ Award. The PR team hosted an educational workshop for media professionals, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the process of restoring power and emphasizing effective communications. The workshop lessons were tested during Tropical Storm Fay, and the media and LCEC scored high marks for cooperation and message clarity.
LCEC also received an Image Award for the Marco Community Forum. The team had weeks to coordinate a customer event offering two-way communication and consistent, accurate information about the not-for-profit electric utility. The program helped to maintain the LCEC reputation and support the position that residents were satisfied with the electric service they receive.
This year’s Southwest Florida Chapter Image entries were judged by members of the Central West Coast Chapter in Sarasota, Florida. Judges are accredited in public relations (APR) or are previous Image Award winners, which demonstrates that a professional has broad knowledge, experience and professional judgment in the field.
The Image Awards competition is conducted annually by the FPRA to recognize outstanding public relations programs in Florida and to both encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism in our state. They have become a standard of public relations excellence in the state of Florida.
Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design in the public relations field.
