Strayhorn appointed to Federal Judicial Nominating committee
U.S. Sens. Bill Nelson and Mel Martinez recently announced that E. Bruce Strayhorn has been appointed to serve on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission.
The JNC performs a critical public service in recommending the most qualified candidates to serve as U.S. District Court Judges, U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals in Florida.
The JNC’s recommendations decide which prospective nominees are forwarded to the White House for the president’s consideration.
As a member of the JNC, Strayhorn will be actively involved in the thorough review of applicants’ qualifications.
The JNC is divided into three conferences, corresponding to each of the three federal judicial districts in Florida.
Strayhorn will serve on the Middle District Commission for a two-year term.
All Commission members volunteer their time and are responsible for any expenses incurred in connection with attending meetings of the conference.
