Panel to discuss moral dimensions of economic recovery
A discussion panel called “The Moral Dimensions of Economic Recovery” will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Florida Gulf Coast University in the Student Union Ballroom.
The forum is free, open to the public and will be comprised of a panel of local experts, including Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fort Myers; David Hall, president and chief executive officer of First Community Bank; David Jones, renowned economist; Steve Shimp, chairman of Owen-Ames-Kimball and a member of the public-private economic development partnership The Horizon Council; Dr. Larry Hobbs, BB&T Distinguished Professor of Free Enterprise at FGCU; and Dr. Christine Wright-Isak, assistant professor of marketing at FGCU.
The panel will discuss the impact of the current recession on government, business and individuals, and debate how best to recover. Among the topics will include how can we, as a society, live within our means and do our neighbors have a moral obligation to help those in trouble.
