The Department of Business and Professional Regulation accelerates
College graduates hoping to enter the real estate profession as an appraiser can look forward to an accelerated licensure process thanks to a new initiative aimed to alleviate the need to submit college transcripts as part of the application.
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Real Estate recently completed a pilot program with Florida State University to pre-certify the educational requirement for graduates based on university degree requirements.
Certified residential or certified general appraiser applicants are required to send in college transcripts, which have to be evaluated to ensure that federal education pre-license education standards are met. This results in prolonged processing time. By working with universities and colleges, the division is aiming to approve educational curriculum and process application without transcripts based on graduation from an approved program.
The division has evaluated and approved the curriculum and educational program at Florida State University and is currently beginning the evaluation process with the University of Florida. The division is going to offer this same program review to all universities and colleges that have full real estate degrees.
The department’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. The department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists.
