Cape Harbour to host New Year’s party
Cape Harbour’s third annual New Year’s party promises to be one of the most explosive parties in the city. Everyone is welcome to come help ring in a brand new year with music, food, drinks, fireworks and the traditional 170-foot ball drop to kick off 2009.
The highlight will be the crowd counting down in preparation for the ball drop from the 15th floor of the Marina South condominium complex against a backdrop of a dazzling midnight fireworks show.
The 6-foot-diameter ball was reconstructed this year using welded aluminum and features the addition of hundreds of shimmering, sparkling lights, according to Jeff Gately, co-owner of Rumrunners restaurant and one of the key sponsors of the event.
As 2008 draws to a close, revelers may want to come early to relax and enjoy some of the fine restaurants within Cape Harbour, including Rumrunners, Pignoli, on Cape Harbour’s Promenade, and The Joint. Additionally, the other shops and galleries will also be open for browsing and holiday shopping.
