Southwest Florida International Airport reports Sept. traffic totals

During September, more than 328,000 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 15 percent compared to September 2007. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is down 5.7 percent over the same period last year.

The traffic leader in September was Delta with 53,542 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (44,140), JetBlue (39,544), Southwest (37,621) and US Airways (34,391).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 4,992 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 3.6 percent over September 2007. Page Field General Aviation Airport saw 4,551 movements, a 14 percent decrease from September 2007. In addition, 2.4 million pounds of air freight moved through both airports in September 2008.
