Tourism, travel industry a family affair for couple
From Austria to Aruba, from Mexico to Madrid, Jennifer Thomas has been there, done that, and written the travel guide. The Cape Coral resident and public relations specialist founded FSR Ventures, a public relations and marketing communications firm specializing in the tourism and travel industries, in 2002.
As CEO and President of FSR — short for Focus, Strategy and Results — Thomas writes about 20 articles each month for various publications on topics such as airlines, cruises, resorts, travel insurance, and travel tips.
Thomas said the Cape is an ideal base of operations.
“It’s great living down here, because everything is so accessible,” Thomas said.
Her husband, Bill, is also an avid traveller, having worked as a crew member on Air Force One. Bill has visited more than 120 countries and founded the travel agency Tropical Latitudes Travel in 2003.
Besides writing for several publications, Thomas is also co-editor of the Travel Advocate online magazine, travel-advocate.com.
FSR recently added the Sarasota-based Fun Photo Technologies as a new client, and is now promoting the Fun Photo CD, a mini-disc that makes it easier for people to share digital photos.
“It allows people to take their shared photos and make interactive slide shows and upload music,” Thomas said. “It’s a great way for people to preserve their summer vacations.”
The globe-trotting Thomas’ most recent trip was a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, escaping the bluster of Tropical Storm Fay in the process. Their 3-year-old daughter, Kiley, went along for the journey, and has now been on more cruises (four) than most people go on their entire lives.
Thomas said her favorite travel spot is the Tahitian islands, but also enjoys the southern Caribbean islands of Aruba and St. Lucia, in addition to Cozumel.
