Salvation Army opens Homeless Resource Day Center in Fort Myers

Resource center in Fort Myers to provide help for underserved populations

By Staff | Jan 26, 2021

The Salvation Army held the grand opening of its Homeless Resource Day Center at 2450 Edison Avenue in Fort Myers this morning.

The resource center will provide a respite for those experiencing homelessness. Access to wrap-around services will be provided by The Salvation Army and on-site partner agency representatives to help meet basic needs holistically and sustainably, with care and compassion.

On site services such as showers, laundry, computer access, and wrap-around case management will be offered. Partnering agencies Lee County Department of Human and Veteran Services, Providence Family Service, and Centerstone Agency will help directly out of The Salvation Army’s Human Resource Day Center’s facilities.

The day center will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“The Salvation Army aims to walk-alongside those struggling with homelessness,” said Major Carlyle Gargis, Area Commander for The Salvation Army in Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties in a release announcing the grand opening. “Our hope is that anyone needing assistance can walk through these doors and find it. We want to get to the root of their current challenges that are keeping them from finding stable living.”
