Adkins recommends later school opening date

By Staff | Jul 21, 2020

Lee School Superintendent Dr. Gregory Adkins told School Board Chair Mary Fischer Monday that he recommends the opening of public schools be delayed 2-3 weeks “based on the current viral infection rate in the state of Florida.” He has referred the recommendation for a later school opening date of Aug. 24-Aug. 31 to the district’s calendar committee. The committee’s recommendation will be brought to the school board at an emergency action meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday.
