CCPD: Suspect in abduction case takes plea
A suspect in a bizarre 2015 abduction case pled to several charges yesterday, Cape Coral police officials reported.
Kristina Pantalias, 30, of 2811 S.E. 15th Place, Apt. 102, was arrested and charged in May 2015 after stealing a car, abducting her niece and nephew, and taking them to an apartment in Fort Myers, where her niece was mauled by a dog.
In an unexpected turn of events Thursday at a scheduled child hearsay motion, the defendant pled.
Pantalias pled to two counts each of interference with custody and possession of controlled substance, as well as grand theft, aggravated child neglect, possession of heroin and child abuse.
She pled to five years and 10 months in prison, followed by eight years of probation.
Pantalias has been incarcerated at the Lee County Jail since her arrest on May 12, 2015.
According to detectives, the children are both doing well, and the child mauled by dog is still getting medical treatment for her injuries.
