Lee County accepting nominations for 2015 Paulette Burton Citizen of the Year Award
Lee County residents can now nominate an exemplary civic-minded citizen for the 2015 Paulette Burton Citizen of the Year Award. Lee County Commissioners are looking for nominees who get involved in the community and work diligently for causes in which they believe.
The annual award strives to recognize a citizen who has provided outstanding civic contributions to Lee County government. The selection criteria includes a positive attitude, knowledge of the objectives and activities of Lee County government, a demonstrated interest in community/county government partnerships and promotion of harmony between the community and county government.
County Commissioners will select the winner. Nomination forms are available at Lee County libraries and recreation centers or online at www.leegov.com/citizenoftheyear. The nominations are due by Friday, Jan. 29.
The award was created in 1991 to honor Burton, a long-time Sanibel resident and government watchdog.
