Lee County DOT announces Road Watch Update for Nov. 26 to Dec. 2
Alico Road: Ajax Paving Industries will widen Alico Road from 200 feet west of Airport Haul Road to 1,000 feet east of Innovation Way in Fort Myers.
Motorists should use caution in this area as there will be intermittent daily lane closures and/or delays between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, weather permitting.
Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, Nov. 30, and should take approximately 45 days to complete (including the holiday shut-down from Dec. 24, to Jan. 3.

Estero Boulevard
Town of Fort Myers Beach refresh Estero Boulevard/Waterlines Times Square to Lovers Lane
Contractors for Fort Myers Beach and Lee County are installing new water main, gas main and sanitary sewer force main on Estero Boulevard from Times Square to Gulfview Colony.
Two travel lanes will remain open the majority of the time, however, intermittent lane closures may be necessary. Crews do NOT work on weekends.
Bridge to Avenue C:
– Crews will connect individual water services to the new water main.
Crescent Street to Gulfview Colony:
– Crews will work on water services. Nighttime work may be necessary.

Striping Maintenance: Lee County DOT will be performing a moving operation with traffic delays on Nov. 26 through Dec. 2 between the hours of 9 a.m. to p.m. (weather permitting) on:

Colonial Boulevard Sidewalk Repair: The City of Ft. Myers will be repairing two sections of sidewalk located at 1645 and 1625 Colonial Boulevard on Nov. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The project will be finished the next day Dec. 1. During this time, the northbound lane of Colonial will be closed between Orangewood Avenue and 1609 Colonial Boulevard. For further questions, call Al Casing at 239-410-2448.
1. Road Work/Maintenance/Improvements:
Burnt Store Road from Diplomat Parkway to Van Buren Parkway – Construction Project: This project consists of the initial widening of Burnt Store Road to four lanes (ultimately the future design is for six lanes with a two-lane frontage road). The project also includes installation of conduits under the road for the City of Cape Coral.
– NW 12th Terrace at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection will close as part of the roadway design for Lee County Department of Transportation’s Burnt Store Road Widening Project. This road closure will remain in effect for the duration of the project. Motorists should access NW 31st Place via NW 9TH Terrace. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction.
– NW 14th Terrace at the intersection of Burnt Store Road: This intersection will CLOSE PERMANENTLY as part of the roadway design for Lee County Department of Transportation’s Burnt Store Road Widening Project. Motorists should access NW 14th Terrace via NW 16th Street or NW 17th Lane to NW 31st Place. Local area residents will have access at all times during construction.
This north segment from Diplomat Parkway to Van Buren Parkway costs $15.3 million and the City of Cape Coral’s utility conduits are $550,000. The contractor is Quality Enterprises, USA, Inc. Daniels Parkway Extension Phase 1 Fiber Project Construction crews will begin installation of fiber conduits on Monday, October 26th at Gateway Boulevard working east towards and ending at SR 82 and Gunnery Road. Men and equipment will be working near the outside travel lane and motorists are advised to be alert and use caution traveling through the construction area. Del Prado Boulevard Sidewalk Improvements: Lee County DOT began ADA upgrades and sidewalk improvements on Del Prado Boulevard between Coronado Parkway and Palaco Grande Parkway in Cape Coral on Monday evening, Nov. 16. The work will be done in the evening/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and motorists should use caution in this area as there will be possible lane closures. Gateway Roadway Rehabilitation: Contractor is replacing the asphalt pathways on Commerce Lakes Drive, Commonwealth Drive and Westlinks Drive. Work will then move to portions of the pathway on Gateway Boulevard. Additional crews will be grading and sodding roadside areas and replacing curb ramps and portions of concrete sidewalk on Griffin Drive and Gateway Boulevard. Please respect “Sidewalk Closed” signs and use alternative facilities where directed. Expect intermittent lane closures during daytime work hours. Ortiz Avenue Sidewalk Repair Project: Lee County DOT is currently repairing sidewalks along Ortiz Avenue from Palm Beach Blvd to SR 82. Pine Island Road & Stringfellow Road: Lee County DOT will be working on ditch maintenance at the intersection of Pine Island Road NW (south side of Pine Island Rd) and Stringfellow heading westbound approximately 3500 feet. Work was scheduled to begin Nov. 23, and be completed by Nov. 25. Motorists should use caution in this area as there will be a lane closure with flaggers on hand between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lee County DOT will provide the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT). San Carlos Park Sidewalk Construction: New sidewalks are being installed in San Carlos Park on Lee Road from Sanibel Boulevard to Alico Road and Sanibel Boulevard from Iris Road to Lee Road.
Periodic lane closures are expected Monday – Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Lee Road between Winged Foot Drive and Alico Road and on Sanibel Boulevard between Iris Road and Lee Road. During construction, motorists may be directed through the work zone in a single lane by a traffic flagger.

US 41 Transmission Mains
Lee County Utilities south of Old Gladiolus Drive to north of Cypress Lake Drive:
Contractors for Lee County Utilities are installing new water mains on the west side of US 41 from south of Old Gladiolus Drive to north of Cypress Lake Drive. Motorists should expect the outside southbound lane of US 41 closed during the nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays. Some bus stops are closed/relocated. Some driveways are temporarily closed but businesses and residences will have access throughout the project. This schedule may be subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen underground conditions.
