Chiquita Lock to close for annual maintenance Oct. 26
The Chiquita Lock will be shut down for annual maintenance and inspection beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct.26. The lock will remain closed to boaters through the week and will reopen on Friday, Oct. 30.
The city conducts annual maintenance on the lock to help ensure continuous operations. Crews will be draining the lock area, and cleaning and repairing the gates and ballast tanks. A structural inspection will be conducted by Coastal Engineering.
Boaters behind the lock will need to make alternate arrangements during this time. Boaters can use the city boat ramps at Burnt Store Road, Yacht Club, Horton Park or Rosen Park.
