CCFD hurricane seminar June 11

In preparation for hurricane season, the Cape Coral Fire Department will host its annual Hurricane Seminar Thursday, June 11, from 6:308 p.m., in Council Chambers, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.

The purpose of the seminar is to provide citizens and business owners of Cape Coral with information that will help them be prepared, not only for hurricane season, but throughout the year. The seminar will feature a number of speakers and a wide range of topics including:

– individual, family, and home preparation

– what to do if a tropical event threatens SWFL, including where to get up-to-date information and potential evacuation details,

– re-entry information for returning after an evacuation, and

– avoiding predatory contractors following a tropical event.

The key speaker for the event is WINK News Chief Meteorologist Jim Farrell. He will be discussing the hurricane forecast for this year as well as the anatomy of tropical events. Other speakers include Jesse Spearo, Cape Coral EM coordinator, Cape Police Capt. Mike Torregrossa and city building official Paul Dickson. The host is Fire Chief and EM Director Don Cochran

Hurricane season began Monday, June 1, and runs though Monday, Nov. 30.
