Southwest Florida program honored by regional association

2 min read

Wednesday night, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers was honored by the Southeastern Crime Stoppers Association as the Most Productive Program in the Southeast for its efforts during 2014. The award was based on the number of arrests, cases cleared and the amount of drugs and property seized during that calendar year. At the awards ceremony, held in Palm Beach County, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers was also given the award for Most Creative Advertising for its daily “Twit” of the day posting. Each day, Crime Stoppers chooses someone with a felony warrant and features that individual on their Twitter page (under the handle of SWFLCrime8477). In addition to the awards, Program Coordinator Trish Routte was elected and sworn in as the new vice president for the Southeastern Crime Stoppers Association.

“The recognition given to our program is due completely to the tremendous partnerships with the media, law enforcement and mostly, the anonymous callers who have the bravery to reach out to Crime Stoppers and provide information that assists in putting dangerous criminals behind bars,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers coordinator. “These awards are a reflection of the members of our community stepping up to the plate and doing what they can to make our neighborhoods safer.”

This is the ninth consecutive year that Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers has been recognized as the most productive program in the Southeast US.
