Fossil expert to address Cape Coral Historial Society this Tuesday

1 min read

Don Lindsey, a member of the Lee County Fossil Club, will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Cape Coral Historical Society Museum, Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 2:30 p.m.

Lindsey, who was a surveyor for Gulf American in the early 1970s, measured the amount of material that was being moved each month during the canal digging projects in the city’s early years. During the digging, he found bones, teeth and other materials being uncovered. Researching the finds, he discovered they were from mammoths, sloths, bison, camels, horses and many other creatures that lived here 10,000 years ago. For his presentation, he will have fossils on display.

The program is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary.

Cultural Park Theatre is at 528 Cultural Park Blvd., next to the museum. For more information, call 239-772-7037.
