Mariner students participate in local drama event
This past weekend, 10 senior drama students from Mariner High School participated in the District 6 Thespian festival held at North Port High School. More than 800 students participated in the festival, representing schools from Sarasota to Naples.
Mariner students had 14 entries in the following six categories: “One-Act Play,” “Ensemble Scene,” “Contrasting Monologues,” “Duet Scene,” “Solo Musical” and “Duet Musical.” Students were awarded superior, excellent, good, fair or poor ratings.

In addition, the One-Act Play received three awards: an overall excellent rating, the award for best actress (Davis) and the award for best set.
Blanco, Davis, Gymrek, Nicosia and Wadsworth will be advancing to the state festival in April.
