Woman charged with murder In Lehigh Acres

Thursday, Jan. 7, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Lehigh Regional Hospital in reference to a male with a stab wound to the back. He had been dropped off at the emergency room by an unknown female who immediately left the hospital in a green Suburban. The male, who later died, has been identified as Arthur Lee James, 44.

According to LCSO reports, as deputies were responding to the hospital, they observed a green Chevy Suburban at the Marathon gas station, located at Hazelwood Avenue and Lee Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. Deputies made contact with the driver, Leatha McSwain James, 40. She reportedly confirmed she had dropped the man off at the hospital.

Homicide detective with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to Lehigh Regional Hospital and conducted an investigation. During the course of the investigation probable cause was developed for the arrest of James for the charge of second degree murder, reports state.

The victim, according to deputies, is the husband of the suspect. His address is listed as 703 Cortez Ave., Lehigh Acres. Investigators learned the stabbing occurred when a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect turned physical.
