Cape Police to be out in force for ‘Black Friday’
The Cape Coral Police Department will have an increased presence around shopping areas beginning early Friday morning as bargain hunters head out for the traditional “Black Friday” event, according to city officials
“The ‘Black Friday’ event is one of the busiest shopping days of the year, and stores will be opening early and having special sales,” said Deputy Chief Bart Connelly. “We want to have a police presence at these locations to help deter opportunities for retail thefts and auto burglaries, and address any traffic congestion or parking issues that may arise.”
Cape Police patrols will be more prominent in the parking lots of the main shopping areas, and officers will be watching for suspicious activity, officials said.
Patrol officers also will conduct crime prevention activities, looking for insecure vehicles and valuables left in plain sight. Traffic units will assist with traffic control and enforcement, while District Resource Officers will be patrolling store parking lots on Segways and bicycles.
