‘Bikers for Babies’ ride Sunday
On Sunday, Nov. 1, motorcycle enthusiasts will be participating in the “Bikers for Babies” March of Dimes event. Organizers anticipate around 1,200 motorcycles will be participating by riding from North Collier Regional Park on Livingston Road in Collier County to Fort Myers Harley Davidson on Colonial Boulevard in Lee County. It is estimated delays at intersections could be as long as 30 minutes or more depending on the turnout.
Deputies, Community Service Aides and V.O.I.C.E. members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will join Collier County deputies and officers with the Fort Myers Police Department in providing traffic control at approximately three dozen intersections along the Lee County portion of the planned route.
Between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., citizens who plan on traveling to or from Bonita Beach, Fort Myers Beach, McGregor Boulevard or Colonial Boulevard are likely to experience delays in their travels.
As the motorcade enters northbound from Collier County on Imperial Parkway, bikers will turn west on Bonita Beach Road, then make the bend to Hickory Boulevard (Bonita Springs) Estero Boulevard (Fort Myers Beach) – then north on San Carlos Boulevard which becomes McGregor Boulevard at the Gladiolus Drive intersection. Bikers will continue along McGregor Boulevard turning east on Colonial Boulevard to Fort Myers Harley Davidson, located at 2160 Colonial Boulevard.
Motorists should seek alternate routes or schedule their travel time to avoid the expected delay.
