Cape police and fire departments hosting Community Safety Fair
The Cape Coral Police Department and its Neighborhood Watch Program, along with the Cape Coral Fire Department, will be hosting a Community Safety Fair Saturday, Oct. 3. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shops at Surfside at Veterans Parkway and Surfside Boulevard.
The Community Safety Fair is part of the annual nationwide “Celebrate Safe Communities” event. The annual event focuses on crime prevention efforts, public awareness and community support for ongoing crime prevention activities to help keep neighborhoods safe.
The fair will provide several safety programs and opportunities for parents and kids including: Home Security Tips, How to Protect Kids from Strangers, Bicycle/ATV Safety, Fire Safety Trailer, Free Kids Fingerprints, Free DNA Kits and Free Document Shredding.
Participants can meet the Cape Police K-9 officers and their dogs as well as “McGruff the Crime Dog.” Residents also will have the opportunity to sign up for a Neighborhood Watch group in their area. Food, ice cream and other treats will be available at the Fair.
Cape police officers and firefighters invite citizens to learn important information and tips about keeping themselves, their family and their neighborhood safe by attending the Community Safety Fair.
