Lee County Talking Books Library moving to new location
The Lee County Library System’s Talking Books Library will be leaving its current location in North Fort Myers and moving to the new Northwest Regional Library in Cape Coral. The last day of service at the North Fort Myers location is Friday, Sept. 11.
During the transition, service for local patrons will be provided by the Talking Books Regional Library located in Daytona. Patrons should call 1-800-226-6075 for service from Sept. 14 though Oct. 2. Once moved into the new facility, the Lee County Talking Books Library will start off with phone and mail service only from Oct. 5 until Dec. 4. Beginning Dec. 7, full service, including walk-in service, will again be available to all Talking Books patrons at the new Cape Coral location at 519 Chiquita Boulevard North. The phone number for the Lee County Talking Books Library will remain the same: 239-995-2665.
Although the Talking Books Library is not regularly open on Saturdays, staff will be on hand for the grand opening of the Northwest Regional Library Saturday, Dec. 5. The ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and the doors will open immediately afterward.
The Talking Books Library provides service to children and adults of all ages who cannot read regular print books due to blindness, low vision, a physical disability that prevents holding a book or turning a page, or a temporary disability from an injury or surgery. The Talking Books Library in Lee County serves over 1,100 patrons.
