Deputies investigating North Fort Myers bank robbery
Today at approximately 11:58 a.m., deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Wachovia Bank, located at 3041 N.E. Pine Island Road, North Fort Myers, in reference to a bank robbery.
Due to the nature of the incident, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation.
Detectives learned the suspect entered the bank shortly before noon and approached the teller. He passed the teller a note with instructions on handing over an undisclosed amount of money. The teller complied with the suspect’s demands before the suspect left the building on foot. No weapon was visible during the incident.
The suspect is described as a white male, 45-50 years of age, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a Tommy Bahama-style straw hat, and a beige Hawaiian shirt with green and yellow flowers. He was also described as wearing tan or khaki pants with black sun glasses.
There were no injuries to customers or employees.
