Local businesses collect school supplies for teachers and students
Several businesses in Lee County have teamed with The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools Inc. to collect school supplies for students and teachers who will soon be going back to school. Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union, Fifth Third Bank, State Farm Insurance and AT&T are collecting school supplies internally and encouraging donations and support from their customers.
Marshall Bower, executive director of The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, said, “Our local businesses are demonstrating their understanding and concern for the needs of the growing number of students who need help this year in obtaining the basic supplies for a quality education. School begins in a couple of weeks, so it is important for our community to help The Foundation and its business partners to send our students to school prepared to learn.”
Lee County public schools open on Monday, Aug. 24.
All school supplies needed. Suggestions include #2 pencils, assorted pens, highlighters, wide-rule and college-rule paper, folders, glue sticks, backpacks and erasers.
