Sheriff helps kick off Boys & Girls Club 2009 Summer Appeal

1 min read

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has announced it will support the Boys & Girls Club of Lee County’s 2009 Summer Appeal. The Summer Appeal is an effort to find benefactors who will pay for scholarships for youths to attend the Boys & Girls Club’s Summer Enrichment Program. The program will take place at five Lee County locations.

To help launch the Summer Appeal, Sheriff Mike Scott will send a letter to individuals and businesses in Lee County encouraging support for this cause. Unfortunately, many of the children that attend the Boys & Girls Clubs come from single-parent/low-income households with limited finances during these hard economic times, prompting the need for a fund-raising effort. Donors can sponsor a child for $100.

More information is available on the Boys & Girls Club Web site.
