Cohen stepping down as Mack’s chief of staff
Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) announced today that his chief of staff, Jeff Cohen, is stepping down from his post to accept a position in the private sector.
Cohen has been named executive vice president of Alexandria, Va.-based Direct Impact, a national grassroots, public affairs, public education and corporate reputation firm, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Burson-Marsteller.
Cohen has served as chief of staff since Mack was first sworn into Congress in January 2005, and was Mack’s campaign manager during the 2004, 2006 and 2008 election cycles. He will join Direct Impact in June.
“Jeff has been a most-trusted advisor, a tireless advocate, and a close personal friend for many years,” Mack said. “I will truly miss having him by my side every day, but I know that I will be able to continue to count on his advice and friendship in the years ahead.”
Prior to managing Mack’s 2004 congressional campaign, Cohen worked in a variety of public relations and management positions in the private sector and on political campaigns. He also served as press secretary to Mack’s father, U.S. Sen. Connie Mack III.
Mack is expected to name a new chief of staff in the coming weeks.
