The Fort Myers Police Department will to host a ceremony at 3 p.m. today to close out National Crime Victim’s Week.
The agency will re-dedicate a Memorial Butterfly Garden in a special ceremony that will culminate in the release of about 75 butterflies in the garden. The ceremony is the ninth annual event. The goal of the garden is to serve as a constant reminder to police and the community of the importance of assisting crime victims and their families.

This year’s theme is “25 Years of Rebuilding Lives: Celebrating the Victims of Crime Act.” Crime victims and their families, the public and the media are welcome to attend the ceremony and butterfly release.
