VOICES of Mobile to perform at First Baptist Church
The VOICES of Mobile, a Christian vocal ensemble that has played at the White House, will be in Fort Myers Sunday, May 17, for a special concert at First Baptist Church of Fort Myers, 1735 Jackson St., in downtown Fort Myers.
The concert is planned for 10:30 a.m., as part of the church’s regular Sunday worship service, according to the Rev. John Daugherty. There is no additional charge for the concert.
VOICES of Mobile consists of eight women and eight men who represent the University of Mobile in Mobile, Ala. The group presents more than 100 concerts throughout the United States each year and has performed at The White House during four different administrations.
VOICES of Mobile, which plays contemporary Christian and secular music, has recorded two CDs and has been featured on four DVDs. They will make their first visit to the Middle East in June to appear before 8,000 American religious leaders in Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Paris. A highlight of the trip will be a concert at the Notre Dame Cathedral.
First Baptist Church of Fort Myers is one of the area’s oldest churches and was founded in 1892. Services are offered at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays with Bible Study at 9 a.m., and at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
