Fourth Annual Art Contest at Cape Coral Public Library
Cape Coral Public Library and the Friends of the Cape Coral Library will hold the awards ceremony for the Fourth Annual Art Contest to be held Wednesday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m., at the Cape Coral Public Library. The theme this year was all about birds in Southwest Florida.
Artworks were viewed and voted on by three recognized local artists as well as a bird specialist and a member of the local media. With more than 200 entries this year, the jury had the difficult task to select the winners according to three age categories: 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 years old.
There will be five awards for each age category with special prizes and ribbons for first, second and third place as well as for two honorable mentions. The awarded artworks will be exhibited at the Gallery of Cape Coral Library for a month. The winners for this year are the following:
Category 7-8 years old
1st place – Amber Irvine
2nd place – Heidi Hassett
3rd place – Melissa Moure
Honorable Mentions – Stephanie Moad and Justin Guarniero
Category 9-10 years old
1st place – Taylor Corcoran
2nd place – Andrew Mills
3rd place – Savannah Blevins
Honorable Mentions – Paige Arey and Angela Arroyo
Category 11-12 years old
1st place – Angel Mena
2nd place – Dennis Ballester
3rd place – Amy Carothers
Honorable Mention – Lane Sager and Michael A. Lee
