This year, more than 350 JROTC cadets from across Lee County will be honored for their achievement in leadership, patriotism and community service by veterans groups from around Florida. The ceremony will be held Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m., at South Fort Myers High School, 14020 Plantation Road.

During the 2008/09 school year, JROTC cadets have contributed more than 35,000 hours of service helping improve their schools and community. In addition, various academic scholarships will be awarded to deserving cadets during the hour-long ceremony.

This year, the first annual JROTC STAR award will be presented to a school administrator in honor of “sustained excellence” in supporting JROTC Programs and cadets.
