Conservancy of Southwest Florida hosts free Earth Day Weekend Festival

The Conservancy of Southwest Florida will host the 2009 Free Earth Day Weekend Festival presented by Fifth Third Bank Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19.

The annual weekend-long, Earth-friendly event will feature an organic farmer’s market and native plant sale, special exhibits, children’s carnival, educational presentations, electric boat rides, live entertainers and guest speakers. Whole Foods will host a healthy cooking demonstration for children and will donate their reusable bags for shoppers to use in the farmer’s market.

The hours Saturday are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and noon to 3 p.m., Sunday.

Conservancy of Southwest Florida Nature Center, 1450 Merrihue Drive, Naples. Merrihue Drive is off 14th Avenue North at Goodlette-Frank Road. Because of green construction on the Conservancy campus, parking onsite is very limited. Festival-goers are encouraged to car pool to the event. Additional parking also is available across the street at Lake Park Elementary School. In addition to Fifth Third Bank, the Earth Day Festival is sponsored by Amerivest Realty and Whole Foods.
