Naples real estate broker Tom Walsh, 65, today announced the formation of an exploratory committee to examine the possibilities of his entry into the 2010 Republican primary race to succeed Sen. Mel Martinez, who is retiring. Walsh has been a resident of Naples for 24 years and operates his own residential real estate business.

Walsh envisions a positive campaign to counteract the current climate of one thing being said and something else being done, according to a statement issued Thursday. Individual liberty and freedom, fiscal sanity, smaller government and strong defense will be the keystones of his efforts.

“My campaign will focus on the future of America. There will be no playing the blame gamethe actions of the past, from Hoover to Roosevelt to Eisenhower to Johnson to Reagan to Clinton to Bush represent the past. I firmly believe we must learn and accept the lessons of the past while moving forward to espouse the American ideal to all those people throughout the world who yearn for freedom and liberty,” said Walsh in the statement.
