FMPD cracks down on curfew violations
Today, the Fort Myers Police Department, with the assistance of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, arrested dozens of teenagers for violating probation. Over the past four days, officers conducted curfew checks on 116 juveniles within city limits.
Juveniles on probation have a 6:00 p.m. curfew unless excused by the court. Police found 46 of them in violation.
Officers found the teens weren’t home by curfew or they were home for the check and then left. Police checked on juveniles two to three times a night.
The operation will continue throughout the rest of the week to ensure those arrested today, sent back home, and now on home detention, will remain home.
Today FMPD officers located and arrested 34 out of the 46 wanted for violation of probation.
