FMPD completes investigation into fatal accident
Fort Myers Police have completed the investigation into a fatal traffic crash that occurred Tuesday night, Feb. 2, on McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers.
The FMPD report revealed that both victims in the accient, Laura Brigner, 34, of Fort Myers, and Raymond Pelkey, 30, of Pennsylvania, were intoxicated. Brigner was the driver of the car, and according to the FMPD.
The initial FMPD report shows that a call came into the department at 11:48 p.m. Feb. 2 concerning an accident at 2439 McGregor Boulevard. The preliminary investigation suggested that the driver, now identified as Brigner, was driving a Chevy, two-door car at a high rate of speed when she lost control hitting at least two palm trees. The car burst into flames.
When officers arrived on scene, the car was reportedly engulfed in flames with a tree through it. One person was ejected from the car and another was trapped inside. Both were badly burned and died on scene.
