A-Team Challenge semi-finals to be televised
The A-Team Challenge has concluded its first three rounds and will begin the semi-final games of academic competition among area high schools. At the start, this challenging tournament included 31 teams from six southwest Florida counties. The number has been reduced to four teams, including one from the Cape, for the semi-finals.
“We congratulate all of the teams who compete and look forward to the exciting semi-final games between Cape Coral vs. Charlotte High and Barron Collier vs. Gulf Coast” said Bev Burke, program manager with The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc.
The matches currently air on Comcast Cable education channel 99 in Lee and Collier Counties and Charlotte County TV 20.

The quarter finals, semi-finals and Championship games will air on NBC-2 during prime time in April.
The A-Team Challenge, is a major project of The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc., in partnership with the Lee County School District and NBC-2. The A-Team Challenge is the only six county high school televised academic competition in southwest Florida. NBC-2 News anchor Craig Wolf is the host. The competition recognizes academic excellence and fosters pride and a spirit of competition among area high school students, coaches and teachers. Students answer questions in the areas of language arts/humanities, social studies, math and science. Each team is comprised of four students and up to four alternates of which two join for the final exam portion.
The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc., now in its 22nd year, was established in 1986 as a nonprofit corporation. Its mission is to enhance the quality of public education in Lee County by increasing community involvement with, and support for, Lee County public schools.
