2009 Jr. Olympic Skills Competition at the William Austen Youth Center
From Wednesday, March 18, through Friday, March 20, beginning at 4:30 p.m. each da, local youth will be taking part in the official youth skills competition of the U.S. Olympic Team. The competition is a national grassroots skills competition that provides boys and girls ages 8-13 the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in four sports, basketball, soccer, tennis and track and field.
Jr. Olympic Skills Competition encourages youth participation in sports and emphasizes fair and friendly competition. Youngsters can participate in any or all of the individual sports and advance through three levels of competition, including local, regional and the national finals. Each sport is scored individually and the boys and girls compete separately and the competition is open to all youngsters in the area.
The William Austen Youth Center is located at 315 S.W. 3rd Ave., in Cape Coral.
